It’s the freakin’ weekend! Woohoo! And I’m spending my Saturday night at home, on the couch. But it’s not all bad, because I’m enjoying a rather delicious gin cocktail.
I came across this recipe on @mantitlement and knew it was perfect to use the very last of my blood oranges. So if you have any blood oranges hanging around, this drink is a great way to showcase and enjoy them. And if you don’t, tuck this one away for next season.
I used @neverneverdistillingco Southern Strength Gin because I wanted a gin that would still shine through all the blood orange juice and knew this one would. I think this cocktail is an absolute cracker and am only sorry I didn’t discover it at the beginning of blood orange season. It’s perfectly balanced, the colour is spectacular and it’s easy peasy to make.
Blood Orange Martini
2oz @neverneverdistillingco Southern Strength Gin
3oz fresh blood orange juice
Sprig of fresh rosemary
Add gin, Cointreau, blood orange juice and a couple of rosemary leaves to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with the rest of the rosemary sprig.
