No one prepared you for this, but you now find yourself in a position of caring for your kid(s) *and* your aging parent(s). It’s unchartered territory and you don’t understand how in the world there are approximately a bajillion blogs about infant feeding schedules, but no one out there prepared you for this new season of parenting your little rascals while simultaneously mothering your own mother. It can feel like...a lot.
I often chat with people about knowing when it’s time to “upsize” homes. Firstly, there has to be a need or want that is so compelling that it moves you to action. We are seeing that the need for what industry professionals call “multi-generational housing” is on the rise as people who find themselves caring for their children as well as their parents look for solutions. Solutions that are cost-effective, preserve healthy boundaries and independence, and most importantly, help the parent downsize with dignity and a sense of agency.
I find that while there are multiple variables at play, the numbers ($$$) tend to bring a lot of clarity to the situation at hand. Once you look at the cost of assisted living and senior living facilities, more and more people are finding that paying the extra $ in your mortgage for more space that gives your parent an independent living area is the right move, and the idea of multi-generational housing starts to make a lot more sense.
If you find yourself in the need of multi-generational housing now or potentially in the future, it’s never too early to start planning. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out if we may be of service to you and your family. We’re here for you every step of the way. #bidwellproperties#compassdmv
PSA- Starbucks holiday drinks? Delicious. Love them. But, they’re just about as horrible for you as it gets. If you order a “short,” you’ll just get a tiny drink that’s (obviously) fewer calories and you still get all the taste. Bonus if you sub coconut milk for the dairy milk and ask for half of the sugar pumps 😋. The “shorts” aren’t on the menu but you can still get them!!
Can't lie, Mercury retrograde has been whooping my behind y'all! Well it has to be that... just been stuck in a funk, my overthinking has been in overdrive about literally everything, and so many ideas in my mind I'm just still trying to figure out how to effectively convey.
Just today, deep in thought with it all, @thepattern app reminded me, "you're intended to follow your dominant, outgoing impulses and live life as you go along, moment to moment. Try not to second-guess yourself or compare yourself to others. Believe in creativity for its own sake, not because it impresses people or brings you success." and yup, I needed that. Hope who ever needs this reminder receives it, as well! ✨

Coming in HOT with these loaded black bean nachos for meatless Monday 🔥 So good that you’ll be tempted to say nacho nachos to anyone who tries to come near them 😂
Okay, I’ll show myself out now....
Anyhoo, these nachos are slightly healthier than your average nachos but are definitely not lacking in flavor or texture! Such a fun, yummy meal to share on a lazy day while watching a game or movie at home. Also the perfect cheap dish for rent week that you can customize as you please 😎
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a nonstick baking sheet with cooking spray
2. Drain and rinse a can of black beans (such a good source of plant based protein!) and mix together in a bowl with the juice of half a lime, chili powder, cumin, and a dash of garlic powder
3. Also drain and rinse a can of corn
4. Spread out tortilla chips on your pan (I used @aldiusa organic blue corn tortilla chips which have super clean ingredients) and then top with black beans, half the corn, and shredded part-skim Mexican style cheese
5. Bake for six minutes or until the cheese is melted
6. Add toppings of choice! I used Greek yogurt in place of sour cream, pickled jalapeños, pickled red onions, mango pico de gallo, cilantro, scallions, and guac of course🥑
My husband and I had a wonderful weekend exploring our own backyard ✨ On Saturday we drove down the road to Del Ray and stopped at @cheesetique for lunch. They have a fantastic selection of wines and cheeses and now I have a go-to spot for my next wine and cheese night! 🍷🧀 On Sunday we had Friendsgiving with @the_maxxinista_teacher, her husband and other sweet friends 🍁❤️ Today we celebrated @zoeyandbaileytheaussies birthdays and also thanked all of our family members who serve or have served in the US military. If you’re a veteran, THANK YOU for your service! ✨ I hope you all had a great weekend filled with joy and adventure!
Also, I have an exciting brand collab coming your way in a few weeks! 😍 It’ll be my first one I feature on my Instagram! Stay tuned 😌
